Ok, now bear with me here. Middle girl had a spinal tap. What you see below (and I swear to god - whom I do not believe in - she made me take the pic) is the sheet after she lay down on it after the tap. Now, maybe all you see is a smear of Betadine, blood and spinal fluid. That's all I saw. But my girl insists that there is the shape of a cross and a smiley in blood in the middle of it. Once she pointed it out to me, I saw it immediately. Now I wish we had kept the sheet. We could have sold it on e-bay for a fortune.

This is the oldest one outside Children's Hospital. They have these big blocks out there. You can probably see that in the photo. I love this pic. I can't help but be cynical about the blocks, though. You think they delight and distract the millions of kids who go through there? The kids with tumors and cancers and other terrible things? You think those kids even go through the front of the building? Those blocks ought to be out by the ambulance bay.

Continuing the disturbing hospital thing I have going on here today, this is a pic of a bunch of glowsticks. Remember, I bought a few hundred of them for middle girl when she was in Too Prestigious for Mortals hospital downtown (the one near the good-jelly-bean store). We played with them for days. We had them strung in circles all over the hospital room and on the rails of her bed and several of the nurses had glow stick bracelets.

Thinking about it, Children's Hospital ought to hand those out to the kids rather than walk them past those blocks. They'd have a lot more fun with them, especially the ones who lost their hair. They make really nifty little halos.

I feel angry and cynical and it probably shows. A crap, painful weekend for the girls and a dozen faxes and phone calls since eight this morning have produced zero response. If I'd saved that sheet, I could have sold it and bought an uzi.
