Image hosting by Photobucket My daughter and I took an impromptu trip to the Santa Monica pier last night. This is a picture of the moon over the water. It was getting pretty foggy, and I think the celestial kind of things you see in the pic come from water in the air or on the lens.

We ate funnel cake and rode this thing that spins you around kind of like a blender spins dough. I took her picture and they told me to stop, so I flipped a switch and shot video, instead. I did that while the camera was in my lap and got good footage of whatever it was they were afraid to have seen. We had a good time.

The Santa Monica pier has changed a lot since I hung out there in the early eighties. It's shorter now and has two levels, but back then all we had was the one level and it extended much further out into the water. I gather that a storm made the far end unsafe and they took it off, adding a second level when they rebuilt. Oh, well. Things change. But as a teen in the early eighties, it was the place to layer yourself in baby oil and hang out. My husband and I spent most of our first summer there.

Hey - did I tell you? The insurance company decided to declare my car a total loss. They said they did enough damage to the computer center in the steering column to make it unsafe to drive, even if they repair it. Now it's all about waiting to see what kind of offer they make us.
