Did I mention I would be complaining a lot about doctors?
Was there a time in human history that a doctor's treatment decisions were motivated by what was best for the patient, not by covering their ass and avoiding a lawsuit? Is there some aboriginal tribe somewhere whose medicine man isn't thinking about malpractice premiums and if so, can we move in with them?
Doctors: If you are so cowed by the bureaucracy and insurance company that you cannot effectively treat your patients, why go to work in the morning? Too few doctors get rich for you to be in it for the money, so why the fuck are you going to work every day and seeing my kid if you don't intend to really look at her chart and try to help her? Does it take all your bravery and stamina to make it through med school, so that when it's time to see a patient, you just have nothing left?
I don't give a shit how many seminars you go to or how many books you write - if your treatment choices and professional opinion are castrated by fears of litigation, you have no business seeing patients. Get the fuck out of the office and leave these people to someone who can a: afford malpractice premiums so they can b: afford to really TREAT THE FUCKING PATIENT!!!
