First fought, first served

My oldest daughter, the one with the head thing, wants to attend summer school at a public school this year. It's the school her sister attends and normally, my daughter could get in on a sibling permit, but they don't do that for summer school. They offer the first slots to their own students and after that it's first come, first served for the remaining slots. Older daughter was in tears - it was looking like she wouldn't be able to graduate with all her friends, because she might miss too much normal school year with medical stuff to complete her requirements.

I called the principal of the school she wants to go to and explained our situation. Daughter will maybe have brain surgery sometime this year and the only thing she is asking is to attend your school.

Turns out one of the teachers there has a granddaughter with the same condition my daughter has. I told the principal that I would file, type, clean toilets, whatever she wants but please please please take my kid for summer school.

When my younger daughter hands in her own summer school forms, said principal told me to have my younger daughter bring her forms and the ones for my older daughter directly to her (not the usual attendance office staff) and she will take me up on helping out in the counseling office.

I can't thank the lady enough. I just can't. Older daughter is ok now, because she gets to wear the cap and gown and shake hands with the principal of the school she attended for years and go hurrah with all her friends, just like everyone else.

Just like everyone else is a very, very, VERY big thing for her.
