. . .

I'm angry all the time, lately. I'm angry with the doctors, myself, drivers on the road. There's this whining, immature part of me who insists that things should be fair, that people shouldn't be allowed to get away with the things they do, that doctors are supposed to be able to tell what's wrong and fix it. Part of me is mightily pissed off at the injustice of things. Kids should not be abused by their parents, drivers should be courteous and use their blinkers and doctors should not need to have their asses kissed to get their jobs done.

First and foremost, kids should not get mystery diseases and sit around in pain all the time. If they do, there should be automatic compensations like free concerts and iTunes and movies. They should be given Sephora and Hot Topic gift certificates as if they were welfare recipients getting food stamps to replace food lost due to power outages after an earthquake. They should get to meet movie stars and rock stars and get to be in the TV show of their choice.

There should be something to offset how much she hurts, something to make it better. If the doctors can't make her feel better, they should have to give her all those other things. That's what we've been doing. When meds don't help (and they never really do) we try to distract her with other things. DVDs, iTunes, etc. If you knew how much money I have spent in the iTunes music store, you'd faint. The goddamn doctors should have to do that for her - give her anything, everything it takes to distract her if they can't find a way to make it stop hurting.

If you have more than one child, the doctors should have to provide these things for them too, so they never feel left out, because siblings should never have to learn to get used to the accommodations you have to make for their sick sister.

If the doctors can't make the child feel better, they should have to open their bank accounts to the parents and pay all the bills and buy all the stuff. They should have to make it better one way or the other: find a cure or take financial responsibility for the things needed to distract the kids from what is happening.
